As a piece of erotica, it's semi-successful but for the most part Sayadian doesn't really seem to have a good grasp on that element. As a film outside of the erotic elements? Again, not the most interesting. The story has is little more than its synopsis and never really explores any themes. What Café Flesh really succeeds at is its avant-garde style. While the scenes themselves are not very erotic they certainly are interesting to look at. This is complimented by a strong score so the end result is more like a sexual music video than anything else.

What Café Flesh proved, and continues to prove, more than anything is there is a interest in highly stylized, almost avant-garde, pornography.
