In this musical gem, big-hearted Jubal Bristol (Arnold Stang) takes it upon himself to mount a country and western benefit concert after the opera company that his wife (Pamela Hayes) booked suddenly backs out. Along with country icons Minnie Pearl, Dottie West, Connie Smith and Faron Young, the film features great tunes such as "Born to Lose," "Abilene" and "Young Love." Huntz Hall and Leo Gorcey (of Bowery Boys fame) portray stagehands.

This is a country music showcase featuring Little Jimmy Dickens, Pete Drake, Lefty Frizzell, George Hamilton IV, Sonny James, Homer & Jethro, Webb Pierce, Del Reeves, Connie Smith, Billy Walker, Minnie Pearl and Bill Monroe. The actors appear in the wraparound with Stang trying to put on an opera concert, accidentally booking country acts. The main attraction is the last teaming of Hall and Gorcey. They still have a spark of their younger selves. Audrey Williams produced the musical side which contains many big names of the genre, but it barely holds together as a feature movie.
